Kevin Magee

Kevin Magee is the organizer and founder of the Albany Tango Society, presenting tango events in Albany since 2007. Through the auspices of the Albany Tango Society Kevin teaches six levels of tango instruction and presents free weekly classes to the community. As an organizer and presenter, Kevin has hosted over two hundred guest instructors-performers to the Capital Region, drawing from the top echelon of tango dancers world-wide. Kevin is an instructor at Emma Willard School (Troy, NY) teaching ballet, modern dance, jazz, and tango. He also teaches tango through the Student Union at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY). Prior to his work in tango, Kevin performed contemporary choreography with False Alarm, Peter Sparling and Dancers, Second Wind Dance Co., and Ellen Sinopoli Dance Co. From 1991-2007 Kevin instructed modern dance, ballet, and jazz technique, and lectured in contemporary choreography, dance history, and cultural studies at colleges and universities throughout the US. Kevin received his MFA in Dance from the University of Illinois (1991) with an emphasis in contemporary performance, choreography, and pedagogy. http://www.albanytangosociety.org/
